American Express Sues Courtney Love for $352k

Courtney Love Black C ard LawsuitNo wonder why she was so salty about Kathleen Hanna (Julie Ruin) and Adam Horowitz’s AMEX Black Card!

American Express filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Los Angeles alleging that Courtney owes $352,059.67 that includes unpaid balances ($279,079.68 on a Centurion Card, $69,245.56 on a Gold Card and $3,734.43 on a Platinum Card), attorney fees, and late charges. American Express suspended her charging privileges after she both failed and refuse to make payments.

Courtney Love’s publicist had no information as of Wednesday regarding the suit, but had left a message for Love’s attorney. Courtney was also sued for libel in February for comments she made regarding a fashion designer on Twitter; And just last year Courtney was sued for one million by an advisory firm seeking it’s share of proceeds from sale of Nirvana’s publishing catalog.

Myspace and Twitter, Courtney Love is definitely in touch with the times, even at the age of 44.

If you don't like then

So let me hear you holla

Kiss my black Amex

[Draft]

I got mad bucks I hit the stash up and spend that cash up

And use my new black Amex card for backup

Ain't no need to stack up I just hit Saks up

and treat it like a pool table and rack up

This is how it go: Put the merchandise on the counter

then slap the black card down like a domino

Just ask Ben and Big Mo

walking a day in my shoes is like slippin and fallin in a pot of gold

The money I make is just plain irate

if I don't rap no more from this dayforward I'm straight

I can get me a G5, a Land Rov, a Bentley

and that's just all off one day

Vintage '87 I hit the reverend charge

all my blessings and pay my way to heaven

A hundred million spent with nothing to show for it

I can run through money but I can never run out of it

[Chorus]

[Draft]

Check it out

White socks fitted F Record pendant Carnivo sippin Cuban cigar clippin

Crib in the Hamptons loft in the city '08 Iconic Claudio himself sent me

You should see how many women it gets me

somewhere between a whole lot and too many

With the black Amex I don't have a price range

I tried to buy the world but they didn't have enough change

At the United Center sittin next to dame

last time I did that they almost put me in the game

It's a shame cause my main chick can even get charged

So if you wanna act like a retard kiss my black Amex card

[Chorus]

Courtney Love Trashes Kathleen Black Card Horowitz

Courtney Love in a recent myspace blog post (I know, I am surprised she has a computer and can type) trashes Adam Horowitz’s girlfriend Kathleen Hanna by letting the cat out of the bag that she has a Black Card and a house in the Hamptons? She’s apparently trashing her glitzy lifestyle since being with Adam Horowitz.

ivehad my fair share of fights with artists, i mean Kathleen :Black Card” Horowitz OOPS did i tell a big secret? you mean ypou didmnt KNPW she had a HUGE bunch of property? a Centurion card and summers in the Hamptons? oops…well lets just pretend shes Julie ruin

Courtney and Kathleen’s feud started at Lollapalooza 1995 when Courtney attacked Kathleen (aka Julie Ruin) for being friends with bandmate Tobi Vail, who at one point had a relationship with Kurt Cobain?

American Express usually wants celebrities running around with their cards, but I wonder if this is a special case where AMEX denied Courtney a Black Card for being a Celebrity, I mean crazy. She seems a little salty about the card, doesn’t she?

Kanye Wests’ Last Call

Kayne re-coins the term black card as African American Express in Last Call.

I’m Kan, the Louis Vuitton Don
Bought my mom a purse, now she Louis Vuitton Mom
I ain’t play the hand I was dealt, I changed my cards
I prayed to the skies and I changed my stars
I went to the malls and I balled too hard
‘Oh my god, is that a black card?’
I turned around and replied, why yes but I prefer the term

Not All Billionaire Cards Are Black

salma-hayekTwo weeks ago Gawker reported on actress Salma Hayek’s hacked e-mail account, which revealed details on her personal life. Salma Hayek is currently married to born billionaire François-Henri Pinault. Details of the e-mail revealed included her American Express Gold Card Replacement. Gawker editors even note that it’s not the “Centurion Card.” Having a gold card, does not disqualify or mean that she does not have a Centurion Card, because American Express will let you have both if you want (in the US you will have to pay fees for both cards). Marketing research by American Express Departures Magazine has shown that the Rich & Famous seek out unique life experiences and value in their credit cards. But the real question is, if your Salma Hayek or Chuck Bass, do you really need a Credit Card? Seemingly yes, but any unique experience or value a credit card could offer, would certainly be easier to obtain via your own team of assistants. So although most Billionaires (all 792 of them) don’t fly commercial, but they still need credit time to time.

According to a Forbes report in March, the list of billionaires, e.g. those with net worth >= $1 billion, is down to 793 people (that’s 30% less than last year).

Bollywood Rocks The Black Card

Watch out Brittany, Lindsay and Paris, Shilpa Shetty, Indian model turned Bollywood actress (Famous from Celebrity Big Brother, Britain) loves to shoe shop with her Centurion Card. In a recent interview with timesonline.co.uk touts that “I love my American Express Centurion Black. It’s useful because I don’t think it has a limit on the amount you can spend on it. You have to pay something like $2,500 (£1,700) a year, though. I’m so bad with these things. I think they offer some great services like automatic flight upgrades and a hotel booking service. I’ve got a Mastercard from Citibank which I use when I can’t use the Centurion.”

Noel Gallagher Brags About His Black Card

Noel Gallagher Black CardNoel Gallagher has been acting up once again. In an interview early March, Noel Gallagher from Oasis bragged to talkSPORT magazine that he could buy anything he wanted and that his black AMEX card could not be denied anywhere.

Noel Gallagher: “I don’t mean to be f***ing rude but I do won a black Amex card that has unlimited credit and cannot be denied anywhere. I could walk into a showroom selling Boeing 747s and, regardless of whether I could afford it, they’d have to accept the card.” and continued to say “When I was taking drugs on a regular basis it was a frightening experience for the record company. You could have literally gone out and bought a house on a whim – and I have more whims that I care to mention.”

Apparently he likes to take it out, Noel Gallagher took out his black American Express card during the filming of the 2007 BRIT Awards backstage show, see culture references.

KanYe Wests American Express Cards are Black and Red

Kayne West Good Life African American Express Red AMEXKanye West for some time now has been pushing a new term for the “Black Card.” On his “College Dropout” album Kanye raps in “Last Call:

I went to the malls and I balled too hard
‘Oh my god, is that a black card?’
I turned around and replied, why yes but I prefer the term
“African American Express”

In his “Good Life” music video pictured left, Kanye shows his “African American Express” Red Card. The American Express Red is an American Express Card offered by American Express UK as part of the RED initiative that was started by Bono (U2)  and Bobby Shriver (DATA) to raise money for the Global Fund. Money spent on the card helps the global fund by sending 1% of purchases to the RED Global Fund.

The Global Fund (first created in 2002) is setup to help fight AIDS, TB (Tuberculosis), and Malaria. The rich can help even more with the Red Card, as when annual spend passes £5000 the fund percentage is increased to 1.25%.

Kanye isn’t the only rapper to help the RED initiative, Timbaland feat Keri Hilson on his second album “Timbaland Presents Shock Value.Timbaland raps in “The Way I Are:”

“I ain’t got no Visa
I ain’t got no Red American Express

We can’t go nowhere exotic
It don’t matter ’cause I’m the one that love you best
Talk to me girl”

Unfortunately unless you’re in the UK, you’ll have to stick with the Black Card for now.

Darth Vader’s Brother Tove Christensen is Black

Hayden Christensen’s (more formally known as Darth Vader) brother joins the dark side. Tove Christensen (producer of Shattered Glass – does anyone remember that movie?) was spotted by a TMZ source buying ice cream with his black titanium friend.

TMZ reported a few months back that

Hayden Christensen’s older brother Tove recently cruised into a Los Angeles Baskin-Robbins ice cream store and paid for a frozen treat using an American Express black card. An American Express black card!?!? Normally, these limitless credit cards are issued to the most elite of the elite, the richest of the rich, and are often used to buy extremely extravagant items like private planes, mansions or ice cream STORES! Not just a simple sundae.

Brody Jenner’s Entourage and the “Godfather”

“He’s the only 24-year-old kid I know who has a Black Card,” Jenner told Details in 2007.

Hills MTV show star Brody Jenner, Spencer Pratt have  close ties to Jared Najjar the third member of their entourage known as “Godfather”. Jared, heir to a real estate fortune believes in the Brody Jenner brand, now futher being built by MTVs upcoming series Bromance (where guys compete for Brody’s friendship). Brody and Spencer have an impressive list of cars including the Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley Turbo, and a Mercedes G55 (MSRP: $105,275), all funded by Jared Najjar. Further, Jared, invests in Brody’s brand Archangel, featuring high-end punky pieces such as a $92,000 skull-and-diamond wallet chain.

Jenner and Pratt also manage a rapper, Ya Boy, who is “blowing up on MySpace.” Neither of these endeavors is generating any real income, but they are turning Jenner and Pratt into obscenely TV-worthy entities—and this, Pratt hopes, will be the income generator. They recently sold a show about Jenner’s love life to MTV.

Chargin’ with Kim Kardashian

Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born October 21, 1980 and is an American celebutante, socialite, model, actress, apparel retailer, and television personality. She is perhaps best known for her social life, stolen sex tape, and her role on the E! reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

What’s less well-known is the fact that Kim Kardashian got a chance at fame and grew up with money earned by her father, Robert Kardashian (2/22/1944 – 9/30/2003): successful attorney who represented O. J. Simpson during part of the Simpson murder trial and was close friends with Simpson.

Kim Kardashian and her siblings denied allegations that they improperly charged more than $120,000 in charges on the Black Card used by R&B singer Brandy Norwood’s mother (verified by court documents). In an answer to the Superior Court lawsuit filed by Sonja Norwood in Los Angeles, the Kardashians “deny generally and specifically each and every allegation,” the papers say.

Norwood’s lawsuit, which also names Kardashian’s siblings Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr., alleges they ran up the charges in 2006 and 2007. It seeks the return of the money plus 10 percent interest.

Kim Kardashian had access to the American Express card when she worked as a stylist for Brandy in 2004 (Brandy’s brother, Ray J, also appeared in the infamous sex tape with Kim). Norwood claims Kim later passed on the card number to her siblings, who also allegedly made unauthorized charges.

Now why would Kardashian feel the need to burn money using Brandy’s AMEX when she has a Centurion Card of her own? That’s just silly.

Clipse: We Got It 4 Cheap (but not really)

Note the album art on this Clipse release, featuring a Black Card and what appears to be cocaine (no word yet on whether or not it’s pure and uncut). Is the hip-hop group playing on the ironic contrast of costly things like The Black Card and cocaine against things that are cheap? We’ll leave the guesswork to you.

From the track “What’s Up” Featuring Pharrell Williams:

“Cop the sorbet, straight from Jorge
Jack of all trades, even mastered the gourmet
Plus the price got the streets tongue in cheek
Cook it till it’s al dente, mwah, magnifique
Black Card, the era, we got it in the bag
Y’all niggas ain’t a factor like Trinidad’s jab”
